Key Considerations for Coating Steel Space Structures

2025-08-04

In modern industrial construction, to accelerate construction speed and enhance investment efficiency, steel space structures are commonly adopted for industrial plant designs. Steel space structures offer a shorter construction cycle and faster results, with construction timelines exceeding those of other structural types by over 100%. Additionally, they can be constructed concurrently with equipment installation to achieve optimal investment returns.

  1. Surface rust removal on steel components prior to coating must comply with design specifications and relevant regulations. Rust removal methods include manual rust removal or mechanical methods such as sandblasting and shot blasting. After treatment, the steel surface should not have defects such as weld slag, dust, oil stains, or mechanical damage.
  2. Coating materials primarily include various paints such as anti-rust paint and oil-based paint. Coating materials (including those with special requirements such as fireproofing), the number of coats, and thickness should comply with requirements, and there should be no serious defects such as misapplication, omission, peeling, or rust recurrence.
  3. After the installation and acceptance of the space structure engineering project, installation engineering quality acceptance certification and the organization, summarization, and archiving of quality records and other guarantee documents shall be conducted in accordance with regulations. After meeting the conditions for final acceptance in accordance with regulations, the “Final Acceptance Report” shall be submitted, and the project shall be applied for and approved for final acceptance and delivery for use, marking the completion of the installation engineering project.
