Static-dynamic analysis of a three-story space frame

Three-story space frame is an organic combination of double-story space frame, which is another important development in the field of space structure. As the three-layer space frame structure has the advantages of large overall stiffness, uniform distribution of internal force, good economic and technical indexes, short size of all rods, and convenient fabrication, transportation and installation, etc., it has prompted its increasingly wide application in large-span space structure.

For the three-story space frames with richer forms, it is necessary to carry out an in-depth and detailed study on the problems related to their static and dynamic characteristics.

Static-dynamic analysis of a three-story space frame

In this paper, the structural static and dynamic characteristics and vertical seismic response of several forms of three-story space frames are analyzed by using the articulated rod system calculation model. The static and dynamic analysis program of the three-story space frame is prepared by using the space truss displacement method, modified full stress method, subspace iteration method, and vibration mode iterative response spectrum method.

Using this program, two novel forms of three-story space frames, the diagonally resting quadrangular cone three-story space frame and the diagonally resting evacuated quadrangular cone three-story space frame, were computationally analyzed and compared with the commonly used diagonally resting quadrangular cone three-story space frame, the orthogonal resting quadrangular cone three-story space frame, and the orthogonal resting evacuated quadrangular cone three-story space frame.

The results show that the diagonally resting four-cone three-story space frame, diagonally releasing four-cone three-story space frame and diagonally resting evacuated four-cone three-story space frame have better economic and technical indexes and better seismic performance compared with the orthotropically releasing four-cone three-story space frame and orthotropically releasing evacuated four-cone three-story space frame, which have more uniform force on the rods, and the peak of the internal force in the rods is reduced.

In addition, this paper also compares the economic and technical indexes of the above five forms of three-story space frame and the corresponding form of double-story space frame, and the results show that: the application of three-story space frame in large and medium spans is more uniform than that of double-story space frame in terms of the distribution of internal forces in the rods, and the peak value of the internal forces is reduced, and the economic benefits are obviously improved. Based on the above analysis, some design suggestions and problems to be further solved for the three-story space frame are finally proposed.
