Introduction of space frame blanking plate

2021-09-29

The space frame blanking plate is an accessory of the space frame, which can be understood as the plug at the end of the round steel pipe. It has a welding section step with the steel pipe, which is flush with the outer diameter after welding. The round hole in the middle is reserved for high-strength bolts to pass through. The blanking plate and cone should be made of the same materials as the steel pipe. If the steel pipe of the bolt ball is a welded pipe, Q235B steel is generally used. If it is a seamless pipe, 20# steel is generally used. Therefore, the material of the blanking plate is generally Q235 steel. The blanking plate is mainly used in pipes with smaller diameters. The specifications of the blanking plate are mainly related to the thickness, the outer diameter of the relevant steel pipe, and the specifications of the relevant high-strength bolts. For different high-strength bolts, the specification has a limit on the relevant blanking plate.

The blanking plate is an accessory used in the bolted ball space frame structure. They are welded to the end of the steel pipe. The screw of the high-strength bolt is screwed into the bolt ball through the round hole at the bottom of the bolt. The nut is inside the steel tube. When the diameter of the steel pipe is larger, the “cone” is used. “Blanking plate” or “cone” and steel pipe form the “rod” of the bolted ball space frame structure. Sometimes the “blanking plate” and “cone” are collectively referred to as “blanking cone”.

Welding mainly uses carbon dioxide gas to protect the welding part.

The weld level is required to be level two, which can be seen in detail: Article 6.2.2 of “JGJ 7-2010 Spatial Space Frame Structure Technical Regulations”, and Article 5.6.3 of “JG/T10-2009 Steel Space Frame Bolt Ball Joints”.

The main basis for product acceptance of the blanking plate is “GB 50205-2001” and “JG12-1999 Steel Space Frame Inspection and Acceptance Standard”.

Articles 4.7.1 and 4.7.2 of “Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Steel Structure Engineering GB50205-2001” stipulate that the cone, blanking plate and sleeve are as separate finished products and need to be checked and accepted on site.

The “JG12-1999 Steel Space Frame Structure Inspection and Acceptance Standard” stipulates that the main inspection items for the cone are section, coaxiality and thickness.
